This is the first time ever that I blog a non-photography related post or an unhappy topic for that matter.  However, I have no problem breaking this record in an effort to help ease the pain and suffering of others affected by storm Sandy.  We need your help and here’s how.

A group of wedding industry professionals (names listed below) have come together and we have secured a truck leaving to NYC on November 16th, and now we need your help to fill up this truck to the top with needed goods.

Stephanie Bosco, Vanessa Then, Frank Paul, Tamara Cohen Angela Alen-Martinez and yours truly are helping out on this effort but feel free to contact us if you would like to help too.

I’m sure you have all seen the news and the devastation.  Thousands of families have lost everything they own, and even the ones that still have a roof have no power and no heat in this very cold winter.

We have facilitated 3 collection spots with a deadline of Nov 12th to make it easy for everyone to donate needed items from anywhere you live.

Of course these people are in need of EVERYTHING, but here are a few of the things we think are vital to surviving this rough time.

  • Daily toiletries
  • Non perishables to eat (-can openers)
  • Water
  • Gatorade
  • Candles
  • Flashlights
  • Blankets
  • Coats
  • Sweaters
  • Socks
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Scarves
  • Baby Products
  • Antibacterial wipes
  • First aid kits
  • Anything else you think would be needed for survival

My assistant Vanessa Then will be receiving your donations and separating them by categories.  I know that you do not need anything in return for such good acts of faith and kindness, but our studio would like to reward your kindness in the following way…

Every person that comes to the studio with a donation item will receive a raffle ticket, and on November 15th I will pick FIVE tickets and each of the winning tickets will receive a complimentary holiday family portrait session.

The truck, facilitated by Frank Paul will depart to NY on November 16th and thus we need all your donations no later than end of day November 14th. The truck will be delivered to a central location in NYC and with the help of NYPD will be distributed to the families in need.

All of us involved hope to have a truck full of your support to help as many families as we can in this time of need.  Thanksgiving is around the corner so find it in your hearts and give give give.  I’m sure strangers would do the same for you!

I’ll be updating this page regularly.  Come back often for updates.

Feel free to repost this in any social media outlet you desire.  We need all the help we can get.

A huge thank you from all of us involved.  I do not not know anyone personally affected by Sandy but plenty of people whose families have been greatly affected thank you in advance for your kindness.
