On the day of your wedding, your focus should on your soulmate and not your soles. So this blog is all about wedding shoes! Tips, advice and a little inspiration for your wedding shoes, so you’re all set on your special day!

Break in your wedding shoes:

– Make sure your sole is good for your soul.

First and most importantly, ladies please make sure that you break in your wedding shoes! Making sure that you’re comfortable on your wedding day is one of the best things you can do for yourself. You don’t want the day of the wedding to be the day you find out you can’t stand in your shoes for more than ten minutes at a time! So as soon as you can, get to work on making those shoes as comfortable as possible for your big day.

Have backups for your portraits:

We can only imagine how tough it was to find the perfect pair of wedding shoes. So we wouldn’t want you to risk ruining them as your walk around the venue for your portraits. We highly recommend having a pair of comfortable back up shoes that you can use during the portrait sessions. Doing this will keep the real wedding shoes in crisp and pristine condition for the actual ceremony.

Don’t be afraid to stand out:

It’s your wedding, you’re supposed to be the center of attention. From your hair to your make up, to your dress, all the way down to those shoes, everyone’s focus is going to be on you. Don’t spend time worrying about whether or not your guests will approve of your shoes. Rock the shoes that make you happy and take pride in your uniqueness!

Feel free to break tradition:

As far as I am aware, there is no formal handbook that says you must wear white heels for your wedding. Like we said before, it’s your day, and you have every right to wear whatever you want! So if you want to wear heels, flats, sneakers, or even go barefoot, do it and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t! What’s most important is that you wear the shoes that are perfect for you.

Make sure your wedding shoes suit the venue:

As much as we support your decision to wear the shoes that make you the happiest, we also recommend that you buy wedding shoes to suit your venue. A single pair of shoes can only be practical in so many locations. Stilettos are fine for indoor ceremonies with solid flat surfaces. However, if you try to wear them outside on the grass or in the sand, you might quickly find yourself running into some issues.

First Look Photography – Is it really worth it?

What’s a first look?

First looks are relatively private moments where the bride and groom get a “first look” at each other, in their wedding attire, before the actual ceremony takes place. It’s typically a very emotional moment for the couple and usually produces some breathtaking photos. Pictures aside, it just gives the couple a beautiful moment to share with each other amongst the usual chaos of a wedding day.

What’s the point?

Some of you might be wondering, “Why would I have a first look?” It might seem like you’re just adding more to an already packed day, but a first look definitely has its benefits.

The moment lasts longer

The feeling you get when you see your fiancé for the first time on your wedding day, there’s nothing quite like it. It’s an incredibly special moment, and you have the right to enjoy it for as long as you want. If you wait until the ceremony, the moment really only lasts from the entrance to the altar, then boom, the wedding starts and it’s over. With a first look, you get much more time to hug, hold and kiss each other, while the photographer captures all of it. Then once the two of you are ready, you can go on to take your wedding and family portraits before the ceremony starts.
Some couples worry that by having a first look, they risk ruining the moment at the actual ceremony. Trust me, when I say, this couldn’t be further from the truth. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a couples cry at a first look and then cry again at the ceremony.

Calms the nerves

Your wedding day can be an emotional roller-coaster. Those final moments before the ceremony begins, will almost 100% leave you feeling stressed or flustered. So by the time you actually made it down the aisle, you can be a giant bundle of nerves. Now while having a first look means an addition to an already hectic day, it can actually have a very calming effect. Sharing a moment with your spouse before the ceremony can help relieve so much anxiety! It’s like one deep breath of air before the final push. There’s going to be a big wave of emotion as you see your partner, but once that subsides you should start to feel more relaxed. And trust me, that relaxation definitely shows in your pictures!

Get portraits out of the way earlier

In most weddings, once the ceremony is over, there is a brief cocktail hour for guests while the newlyweds, bridal party, and close family have to run off to take portraits. Now, you would think this is enough time for this to be done, but you’d be surprised at how rushed the entire process can be. Before you know it, time is up and you have to get back to the guests at the reception. By scheduling a first look a few hours before the wedding starts, there should be ample time for the photographer to capture the moments between you and your spouse, as well as, the additional portraits with family and the bridal party. You know what that means? When the ceremony is over, you get to enjoy cocktail hour with everyone else!

Extra time to touch up for the ceremony

Now I wouldn’t wish this on any bride, but picture this. You decided that to wait until the ceremony to see each other. The ceremony has started and the two of you see each other for the first time. It’s a magical moment, but it quickly becomes overwhelming and before you know it, you’re crying. Not a few baby tears, we’re talking full blown ugly crying. You try to wipe away the tears, but all you end up doing is smudging your makeup. The ceremony is starting and there you are at your own wedding looking like a hot mess. Now picture the same scenario, but it’s a first look. You might still look like a hot mess, but thankfully you have another 20-25 minutes to go back and have your makeup retouched before the actual wedding starts. And like we said earlier, with most of the nerves out of your system, you’ll be so much more relaxed during the actual ceremony.

Headshots – Are They Worth It?

Professional Headshots | (786) 888-9111 Photographers

Headshots, for a lot of people can seem like a waste of time and money.  Most people are usually content with using a selfie as a headshot, and don’t really see the need to hire a professional photographer.

Now I’m sure you’ve already guessed it from the title, but today’s blog is all about headshot photography: what it is, why it’s important, how you can use it, and I’ll also answer a few general questions as well. I really want to get it across to you guys that getting professional headshots aren’t as expensive as you might think, doesn’t take that long and can definitely help you out in the long run.

Now it is important to note that while we do offer Headshot Photography, when creating this article, I did my best to write it in an unbiased and impartial manner. My aim is to clear up any misconceptions and misunderstandings surrounding this topic, and help you make your own decision.

What Is a Headshot?

Now when most people think about a headshot, they imagine, a generic portrait of someone in a formal setting, probably hanging up in a boardroom somewhere staring deeply into your soul. Thing is, this doesn’t always have to be the case. A headshot is a specific type of portraiture that focuses on capturing someone’s face, for the purpose of giving an accurate representation of that person’s appearance.

Why Are They Important?

Like we discussed in the definition, the purpose of a headshot is to take a picture that gives an accurate depiction of who you are. So if at any point you need to advertise yourself to someone else, but you can’t actually do it face to face, you might need to send in a headshot to put in that work for you!  We live in a world where personal appearance is very important and people see our avatar on social media multiple times a day. With that in mind, wouldn’t you want to use the best possible picture to represent yourself? I know I would. Matter of fact, here’s an example of our company casual headshots.  We have some a bit more formal but these are just casual and they are used throughout our social media outlets.

Where Can I Use My Headshots?

A professional headshot goes hand in hand with a variety of different professions. We receive calls on a regular basis of people looking for Real Estate Headshots, doctor’s headshots, lawyer’s headshots and a plethora of other professions. The vast majority of these professionals end up re-purposing it for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, company newsletter, website and even business cards.  Imagine all this use out of just one photo!

I keep my LinkedIn profile updated and all my connections are able to put a name to a face when conducting business with me.  Keeping an updated headshot on your personal social media portals Facebook or Instgram accounts is a great way to help your audience relate to you. By seeing the face behind the content, they can feel a more genuine and personal connection with you.

In the entertainment industry, they play a very important role for actors, models and even musicians. It is almost mandatory for them to include regularly updated headshots with their applications and auditions for various gigs.  In the world of politics is an absolute necessity to show your constituents the real you.

But I’m Not Photogenic

As a photographer, you would be surprised, how often I get told by clients that they aren’t photogenic, or they don’t like taking pictures because of some mark or scar they’re a bit self-conscious about. The truth is, we all have our flaws here and there. A skilled photographer will be able to position and capture you in such a way that these imperfections will not be noticeable. Just have a conversation with the photographer and let them know how you feel about it and let them guide you. Trust me, the right pose, posture and lighting will always get you flattering results!
